SAGindie’s August ’19 Movie Picks

blinded by the light

It’s August, which means summer 2019 is officially starting to wind down. So we have one month left of new summer movie releases. But the SAGindie staff will not dwell on the end of the season. Instead, we will look on the bright side of things with all the potentially wonderful films we’ll get to see this month. Take a look!

Well, it looks like August 2019 is the month to catch up on basically every title from this year’s Sundance Film Festival. What Sundance ’19 alumni will be out this month, you ask? Well, for narratives we’ve got Brittany Runs A Marathon, Luce, The Nightingale, This Is Not Berlin, and Blinded By The Light. For docs, there’s Love, Antosha, The Amazing Johnathan Documentary, Cold Case Hammarskjöld, American Factory, and Jawline. There are certainly even more, but these are the ones I’m most excited to check out.

There are also some non-Sundance titles I’d like to see, namely The Peanut Butter Falcon (one I missed at SXSW), Ready or Not (horror comedies are back!), and Good Boys (2019 has been rough on summer comedy releases, so best of luck, kiddos!).
