If I want to produce a WEB SERIES starring SAG actors, do I need a SAG Contract?

The answer is: ABSOLUTELY.

We get this question, or questions like it, on a regular basis from ambitious New Media producers looking to create the next The Guild, The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl, or High Maintenance.

The good news, we tell them, is that “YES,” there is a contract that covers New Media series (made for initial release on internet platforms). However, New Media web series don’t currently fall under the Low Budget Film Contracts that SAGindie promotes. Thus, we must refer you to the New Media Department at SAG-AFTRA for questions and concerns regarding web series.

For more info, visit the SAG-AFTRA Production Center or email the New Media department at newmedia@sagaftra.org.

All the best,

SAGindie
