SAGindie and Helix Collective are excited to announce a new partnership with ColorCreative that will help filmmakers expand their creative collaboration networks and bring new layers of artistry to their projects.
ColorCreative’s FIND YOUR PEOPLE PROGRAM provides training, resources, mentorship, and guidance to emerging diverse filmmakers and their department heads across multiple disciplines including writing, directing, producing, cinematography, production design, costume design, and editing. And now by combining forces with SAGindie and Helix Collective’s FILM MUSIC CONNECT Program, film composing will be added to this robust list of creative specialties. ColorCreative was founded in 2014 by Issa Rae and Deniese Davis to support and develop the voices of the future while enabling women and People of Color creators to reach their greatest potential.
The 2023 Find Your People Program Cohort (who were selected from more than 1,500 applicants) will be granted access to Film Music Connect, a filmmaker and professional composer matchmaking initiative. With guidance from the music professionals of Helix Collective, these creative pairings will collaborate on an original score for their short films which will be premiering in early 2024, culminating in a recording session with Helix Collective musicians.
SAGindie and Helix Collective launched Film Music Connect in 2019 to educate filmmakers about the texture and depth original music can bring to a film. By joining the Find Your People Program, there is now even greater opportunity to expose filmmakers to new musical talent and help them build lasting creative collaborations.
SAGindie and Helix Collective join additional Find Your People Program partners American Express, Canva, The Pop Culture Collaborative, UTA, The Jordan Brand Foundation, and Raedio.
